The Laird O' The Isles
So I haven't written about style yet, and that's what this Blog's meant to be about so here goes.
I've always been interested in clothes and the man. When I was younger it was Lloyd Johnson and La Rocka, nowadays it's Ede and Ravenscroft and Ralph Lauren. The picture above was taken in January at Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull. The jacket is a Saxony Tweed from Ede and Ravenscroft. This look was all about the Highlands and looking like the Laird of Kiloran home from the hill.

It seems to me that the standard of mens dressing is constanly slipping. How often now do we see young men dressed exlusively in shades of grey? It's as though when shopping they're trying on a red shirt and asking "do you do it sludge/mud/dun/dung?"
Although it's not obvious, in the above one is sporting a cravat, a sadly maligned item of neckware, like the bow-tie.
In this picture you see the self tie bow tie deployed with a Polo tartan shirt. This is a vintage tie matched to a RL Norfolk and tweed waistcoat, with jeans by Nudie and a Mulberry Anthony cartridge bag and (not seen) Hunter Classics. It's an ambitious look but can be made to work especially well in the countryside.

Here we see the Town version of my Country look. The jacket is a tweed by Tommy Hilfiger, with Regular Ralph Nudies and accessorised with a Missoni scarf. The look is classic, colourful but restrained at the same time. The fancy neckwear has been replaced with a Nicole Fahri Tee and cashmere V-neck in vibrant pink. The bag is a Mulberry walter in Denim Leather. The boots are mustard yellow pull-ups from Zara. The full effect is very mittel European, very Lux.

This was taken during the same Parisian visit, and was my "slumming round the Puce" outfit. The jacket is Giannefranco Ferre and the jeans Earl. The wee scarf is Hackett and I was also wearing a cashmere black rollneck. I'm standing outside Pere Lachaisse.

I am all for men dressing up, sadly too few do so... and the more dressed up you are, the more naked you can become!!! Contrasts are fun!
