Yes, it has been cold here and yes, I am facing another nightmare journey home BUT...
This is Frances Pellisier during the 1921 Paris Tours riding through the snow on his rims. He had punctured both tyres and his hands were so frozen that he could not remove them so he tore the tyres off with his teeth and continued through the snow on his rims. He won from perenial nearly man Cristophe.

RIP, Laurent Fignon, who died yesterday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 50 years old. Perhaps defined more often for losing le tour by 8 seconds, the smallest margin in tour history, than for winning it two times or for his other victories in the Giro, he was my boyhood hero and it was the ambition of my life to one day meet him. Damn.
